THE MET: "OUT/SIDE OF TIME"


“Out/side of Time” is a 3 to 5-minute short film/museum installation, which traverses the intergenerational memory bank of the descendants of Seneca Village, commissioned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s ‘Before Yesterday We Could Fly: An Afrofuturist Period Room’ exhibition, designed by the production designer of Black Panther, opening Fall 2021.

FAMILY OF 5 (Mom, Dad & 3 kids)

Confident in movement. Enjoy dancing. Experience with African dance or movement is helpful.

Looking for families who can transition with different time periods - 1850s to 1930s to Present Day.

  • Mom: female, 30s-40s. Confident, friendly with soulful eyes & warm smiles. 

  • Dad:  male, 30s-40s. Confident, friendly with soulful eyes & warm smiles. 

  • Child 1: Age 6-7, all genders. Confident, friendly with curious eyes & warm smiles.

  • Child 2:  Age 11-12 - all genders. Confident, friendly with curious eyes & warm smiles. 

  • Baby 1:  under 8 months, all genders. Camera Friendly. 

WOMAN AT PHONE BOOTH, female 20s - 30s.

  • Strong storyteller. Confidence and/or experience with movement and on screen. 

  • The character will be time-travelling to different time periods in the scene - future, past and present day.

SPIRITUAL POET, male, 65-70s. Spiritual, Expressive & Confident. Resonant voice.
